Slowly walking some of the UKs best footpaths
About a year ago I had to give up running. Every time I went out I’d get injured and then have to stop for a few weeks only to get injured again next time I went out.
I then reluctantly decided to start walking again. I had to do something as I was still eating the same amount which was impacting my waist line and I was starting to notice my low moods were increasing. I wasn’t happy with this because it took twice as long to do the same amount of exercise and seemed less of a challenge.
After a couple of times walking what I’d previously run I realised I was wrong. So much so, that, for a reason I’ll never understand, I decided to hike Wainwright’s coast to coast footpath.
And for one of the first times in my life, I actually completed one of the daft ideas that popped into my head!

Always take your umbrella
I always ask the same question when I pack for each of my trekking holidays. Shall I pack my umbrella. It always ends up coming on the trip but it does tend to get added and removed from the kit list a few times before a decision is made. Most back packers probably...
