Highland Hiking
Hiking The West Highland Way, climbing Ben Nevis, then hiking The Great Glen Way The PlanWelcome to my latest adventure
The map shows all the routes I’ll be taking and if all my technology works, should show where I am.
To see a few words about my latest hike and some of the thoughts behind it, click the Trek Details button at the top of this page.
I’m so very grateful for anyone and everyone that has taken an interest in what is ultimately a pretty selfish activity, but really happy with all of the support and encouragement I receive!
Once I’ve started trekking, a link should appear below which you can click on to zoom in on the map and see where I am. As always, I’ll be noting down my inane thoughts as I go along and recording them as posts. The most recent of which are at the bottom of the page. Your comments are always gratefully received.

A nice little stroll
I’m pretty pleased with myself. I know many people have completed this walk before me and many will in the future, but as I was walking towards Fort William I decided that I was going to be proud of myself. I say of most things that anyone could do it and there’s...
Rules are there to be broken
But not by me. Well not today anyway. I knew that camping around most of Loch Lomond and on Conic hill was not allowed. That was the reason I decided to book a campsite for the first night. It was also the reason why I had to cover over 23 miles today. So imagine my...
She told me so
Jenny has been saying to me for the last few weeks that I should really try out my new rucksack. She said, “put some stuff in it and go for a walk”. I said, “good idea, I might”. Well I didn’t. Part of the reason was that I didn’t want to use it, find I didn’t like...
Highland Hiking – The Plan
I will walk the West Highland Way in April, wild camping where permitted. Have a day off in Fort William, and weather dependant, climb Ben Nevis (so not really a day off). Finally I will walk to Inverness along the Great Glen Way. This ticks all boxes plus a bonus box…
